Digital Marketing And Content Creation As A Side Hustle Intern (team 2)

After 4 weeks of learning at side hustle internship through video content, backed up with very educative, well complied, and explained live lessons and Q & A sections. We have proceeded into the next step with the internship proper, where we are going to be working on real-life projects. So I have been grouped into a team of 7 amazing people, each seeing the big picture which is getting our hands dirty and gaining real-life experience which will prepare us for future opportunities and jobs. Get to meet the amazing people I get to work with for the next 4 weeks. Our team is team 2, namely;

  4. Wonderful Olaoluwa Akoworo
  5. Betty Nwaogu
  6. Islamlyah Alimi
  7. Precious Ohajonu

Week 1 of the internship proper which was on Monday, my team and I were told to choose 1 out of 3 companies, namely,

  1. Kuda
  2. Cowrywise
  3. Safeboda We made a vote to choose between the 3 and we got to make votes, the highest went to Cowrywise which had 4 votes while safeboda had 2 votes and kuda had 1 vote. Afterward, we tasked ourselves on Monday night make extensive research on cowrywise, identify our target audience and create a buyer persona, all these were done individually by each member and we gave ourselves a deadline for this research.

On Tuesday, we submitted our research on our WhatsApp group (which we created to foster communication amongst us because we noticed we weren’t responding effectively on slack). We also got to determine the template of our content calendar. Afterward, we deliberated on the location of our audience, and the topics of our blog posts and newsletters which is to be fun, educative, and informative to cut across our millennial audience. Our team lead assigned us to come up with 3 blog posts and 2 newsletter topics each.

On Wednesday, we got to submit our various blog posts and newsletter topic idea. There weren’t any complaints because everyone’s topics were amazing. Our team lead gave us a hint on what to keep in mind while writing our newsletters and blog post. The team leader showed us a sample of what he designed on canva for the Eid IL Kabar and asked for our review, we told him what we felt needed to be added to make it much better. The team lead volunteered to come up with an Eid content and Halal product promo with the email newsletter. We also got to decide how the contents would be distributed on social (carousels, canva posts, and Reel/video content). We concluded with the task of coming up with content ideas for social media and copies for social media.

On Thursday, we had a new addition (yayyyyy), her name is Oyinlola Oredipe. This makes us a team of 8 now, she was born ready because she came up with her ideas without being in a group she was already working on something. Immediately she was added to the team, she shared a cool blog post and newsletter topic she came up with and they were nice ones. I got to brief her on what we have been up to before she came on board and what stage we were on. After that, we decided to wait until 7:30 pm (this is when we do have our meetings). Oh!, team lead’s sickness got worse ( I offered him a chilled emoji beer), he joined us for the meeting briefly but before he left, he gave us a look into what he was able to draft for the social media post ( which content to post for different days of the week and which channel). We also got to work on the content of our content calendar, Islamiyah got to design the calendar. I got busy trying to compile everyone’s blog posts and content ideas for social media so that it would be easy for Islamiyah to fix into the calendar; Betty took the task to compile the newsletter. Oyinlola decided to design some graphics on some topics, I also got to design meme write-up graphics.

On Friday, we submitted some graphics we worked on individually which included videos and images for our social media post, we created them using canva.
